KPO not going to proceed to 3rd phase of Karachaganak development

ASTANA. April 29. KAZINFORM - "Karachaganak Petroleum Operating" consortium is not going to proceed to the third phase of development of the field of the same name, said at the briefing in the central communications service the Chairman of the Board of "National Company" KazMunaiGas " JSC Lyazzat Kiinov.

He said that currently 10-12 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons are produced at Karachaganak per year. 7.8 billion cubic meters of gas are supplied to Orenburg refinery for processing. Processed gas is sent from there to the northern region of Kazakhstan to meet the demands.

"With regard to the third stage. Just recently, the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the Board of Oil and Gas of the Government has decided that as long as the third phase we will not start it. Today the decision is 8 billion of gas that is processed will also continue to go, and the rest will be reinjected into the reservoir. This technology is counted by the experts and will provide an opportunity for the entire period of development to produce 100 million tons of oil. This is a very large figure, so here is the decision ", informed L.Kiinov.

It shoukld be recalled that the fourth phase of development of the Karachaganak field meant an increase in oil production and gas and construction of a gas processing plant.
