Kostanay region to spend KZT 4 bln to purchase medical equipment

Governor Kumar Aksakalov and representatives of the healthcare department, and health professionals of the region convened to discuss public health and medical personnel policy issues, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The governor said for the past five years budget for public health services rose by 1.6 times to reach 106 billion tenge. He added this year the region will allocate some 4 billion tenge for medical equipment. 28 X-ray generators, five screening devices, four computerized tomography scanners, two MRI scans, one angiography machine, 13 mammography machines, 60 artificial lung ventilation machines, and 35 ultrasonography apparatuses were acquired in 2020-2023 at large.

Another highlight is to upgrade the skills of the medical personnel. This year 82 million tenge which is 1.7 more compared to the previous year will be allotted for staff development with 650 people going for training abroad.

The governor suggested attracting foreign doctors to the local healthcare facilities to give master classes.

As stated there, the rural settlements of the region with a population of 312,300 people are facing a shortage of doctors.

Besides, last year four medical facilities were commissioned in rural settlements, and two more will be put into service this April.
