Kostanay marks 130 anniversary

KOSTANAY. August 29. KAZINFORM /Petr Plakhotnikov/ The City Day in Kostanay almost coincided with the celebration of the Constitution Day of the country. Governor of Kostanay region Sergey Kulagin congratulated the citizens on the holiday.
"The town walls remember the period of the Civil War and the years of the Great Patriotic War. In the far 50s Kostanay became the center of the Virgin Lands campaign in the North Kazakhstan", the Governor said.
The celebration of the anniversary was started yesterday. NGOs and public offices held special events, organized exhibitions and sport competitions devoted to the 130 anniversary of Kostanay. Retro festival with participation of singers of the regional philharmonic named after Y.Ymurzakov will be held today at the central square of the town. Russian pop-star Natalya Korolyeva will perform at the concert with participation of other starts.
