KHL: Metallurg down Barys 5:4 in penalty shootout

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Astana-based Barys have been outplayed by guests HC Metallurg 4:5 in the Sunday game (October 12), Kazinform has learned from Vesti.kz.
Metallurg players registered their first goal in the 6th minute of the first stanza. But Barys soon fought back after slow start to snatch the initiative. Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd scored their respective goals and gave their club the 2:1 lead over Metallurg. The equalizer came off the stick of Tomas Rachunek of Metallurg in the 24th minute of the match. Both teams scored twice till the end of the third stanza. As a result, the game was extended by an overtime period. The overtime period ended in a 4-4 tie and the fate of the Sunday match was sealed by a penalty shootout in which the guests were luckier. Next time Barys will face HC Amur from Khabarovsk, Russia on October 14 in Astana.
