This is the part of the championship all the teams players and fans are preparing for all season long, physically and morally. The attendance numbers showed that the people in the capital city of Kazakhstan wanted to support their team, over 4 thousand people gathered in the Ice Palace.

Barys demonstrated its willingness to win already in the first period scoring in the power play. Konstantin Rudenko was the first player to score in the game. Late in the period the team from Astana was left shorthanded, but the Barys goalie, Jan Laco, played some notches higher than the players of Avangard and did not allow them to score.

The second period was even more dynamic that had plenty of scoring opportunities but the goalies played fabulously, and sometimes the teams even had some luck behind their backs. However, Barys' Nigel Dawes managed to score in the second period for his team as well.

Early in the third period, both teams had to play defense because of penalties. Trying hard to score the teams, however, attacked to no avail. But playing at even-strength, 'Avangard' was under serious pressure at one moment and Nigel Dawes and Konstantin Pushkaryov gave a beautiful pass to Dustin Boyd and he did not miss. Barys won another game and Jan Laco had a goose-egg. The final score was 3:0 in favour of the Astana team and 2:1 in the series in favour of the team from Kazakhstan.
