KHL: Barys suffer humiliating defeat from outsider of Eastern Conference

Lada won the match that was held in their hometown Togliatti, Russia in the shootout series. The first two stanzas of the game were uneventful. It was Roman Starchenko of Barys who opened the score in the beginning of the third period. However, the hosts soon responded with the equalizer. In the shootout series Barys ran out of luck as Andrei Nikitenko of Lada scored the winning goal. It is worth mentioning that it was the first game attended by Barys head coach Andrei Nazarov after the six-game ban for obscene gestures at the infamous game in Vladivostok. Barys suffer their 7th loss in 14 games and have 21 points in the Eastern Conference. HC Lada have only 9 points after 13 matches. The club will play their last game on road in Nizhnekamsk against local HC Neftekhimik on October 6.
