KHL: Barys edged out by Metallurg 6:7 in the most challenging game of the season

In the first period of the Friday game, Barys had a strong road effort as Kevin Dallman scored the opener in the 5th minute. And then Barys had a breakthrough scoring three goals in a row. Dustin Boyd, Roman Savchenko and Brandon Bochenski each earned one point for Andrei Nazarov's side. Metallurg responded with only one late goal fired by Sergei Mozyakin. Nigel Dawes gave Barys the 5:1 lead in early minutes of the second stanza. But the home side came back with some pressure scoring three times (Jan Kovář, Alexei Bereglazov and Tim Stapleton). Bochenski collected his second point by netting another goal for Barys. Metallurg started to press even harder and equaled the score 6:6 by the end of the third period. Unfortunately, Barys boys were unable to withstand the late pressure and succumbed to Metallurg 6:7 in penalty shootout. As a result, HC Metallurg climbed to the second spot in the KHL's Eastern Conference. Barys remained 6th in the East.
