KazSat-2 scheduled for launch in December 2010 - T. Mussabayev

ASTANA. February 2. KAZINFORM. /Serik Sabekov/ A launch of KazSat-2 satellite is planned for December 2010. Chairman of the Kazakh National Space Agency Talgat Mussabayev has made it public at the enlarged sitting of the Board of the Agency today.
According to Mr. Mussabayev, the preparation works are almost completed. "To prevent a repetition of the situation with the first national satellite (KazSat-1) we took measures on modernization of the control system, improves performance and reliability of new satellites KazSat-2 and updated the contract signed in 2006", the Chief of KazCosmos noted.
The issues of securing orbital positions for Kazakh geostationary satellites are considered at present. The issue on allotting land for construction of a reserve geostationary satellite ground control complex is resolved, the Chairman noted.
