KazMunaiGaz JSC suggests modernizing oil refineries with transfer to Euro-5
"Our colleagues (within the Customs Union) from Russia and Belarus announce that their plants should be transferred to the standard Euro-5 and, in addition, it will be banned to sell motor fuels, which do not meet this standard in these countries", D. Tiyessov said at a board meeting of the Ministry of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan. "According to the program on modernization (of Shymkent, Pavlodar and Atyrau oil refineries) our final objective is Euro-4."
The Managing Director noted that the Ministry of Oil and Gas should consider Euro-5 standard as the opportunity of the final stage of modernization. According to him, this is important since we must be competitive with Russian and Belarusian plants.
He noted the transfer to Euro-5 would require large investments and extending the deadline of modernization till 2015.
