Kazakhstan’s Zhanbota Aldabergenova announces retirement from freestyle skiing

Kazakhstani freestyle skier, multiple World Cup prize winner Zhanbota Aldabergenova announced her retirement Friday, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee.

Aldabergenova took to Instagram to announce the end of her professional skiing career. The athlete said that she is grateful for the sport for ‘giving her pleasure to fly’. 

I will be missing these feelings! I appreciate the opportunity to see the world, meet the unique people with the strong spirit, says Aldabergenova.

The Kazakhstani expressed thanks to her team for the work and support as well as to those who shared her path.

Throughout her career, Aldabergenova competed in 125 different competitions, including three Winter Olympic Games, eight World Championships, 54 World Cup stages as well as four Junior World Championships.

The Kazakhstani took 33 podium finishes, standing atop for 14 times.

I’m grateful that I made a significant contribution and achieved what no one has done in this sport for Kazakhstan, says Aldabergenova.

Zhanbota Aldabergenova announced her retirement from skiing after the Kazakhstani had suffered a serious hip injury December last year.
