Kazakhstan’s Rybakina withdraws from Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships
World №4 Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships due to illness after more than successful run at the WTA 1000 tournament, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
Gastrointestinal illness didn’t let the Kazakhstani play in the Dubai quarterfinal. Her opponent unseeded Italian Jasmine Paolini, ranked 26th in the world, automatically propelled to the semifinals via walkover. She will face Romanian Sorana Cirstea there.
As for Rybakina, she has set her sights on two upcoming tournaments WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and WTA 1000 Miami Open presented by Itau.
This season has proved to be more than successful for Rybakina who lifted two titles in Brisbane and Abu Dhabi. She also reached the Qatar Open final only to be defeated by world number one Iga Swiatek in Doha.
