Kazakhstan’s outmigration rate hits historic low
In January-December 2024, around 12,800 people abandoned their permanent resident status in Kazakhstan, down by nearly 20% than a year before, Kazinform News Agency cites the First Credit Bureau of Kazakhstan.

This is the lowest outmigration figure since the country’s independence in 1991.
The figure compares to 29,900 permanent residents being admitted to Kazakhstan, a 18% on-year growth.
This reflects a continued trend of rising net migration to 17,200 people for a second year in a row, largely coming from Uzbekistan (4 out of 10 arrivals) and Russia (27% of the total incomers), followed by China (7%) and Mongolia (5%).
Last year, a majority of those left Kazakhstan emigrated to Russia (7 out of 10 emigrants), followed by Germany (another 16%).
Earlier it was reported that nealy 9,000 had been resettled to Kazakhstan's labor-deficient regions in 2024.
