Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov breaks into world’s top three in updated ISU rankings
Kazakhstan’s figure skaters have strengthened their positions in the latest International Skating Union (ISU) world rankings, with Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov moving into the top three in men’s singles, Qazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
American skater Ilia Malinin remains at the top of the men’s singles ranking with 4,590 points, while Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama holds second place with 4,123 points. Shaidorov completes the world’s top three.
The updated ISU rankings placed Shaidorov third in the world with 3,918 points, marking a major achievement for the Kazakhstani figure skater.
In women’s singles, Kazakhstan’s highest-ranked skater is Sofia Samodelkina, who sits 13th in the world rankings.
Kazakhstan also has a representative in the updated ice dance standings. The country’s leading ice dance duo, Gaukhar Nauryzova and Boisangur Datiev, are ranked 44th.
Earlier, Qazinform reported Kazakhstan had won the first-ever mixed team gold at the World Cadet Judo Championships.
