Kazakhstan's Gerassimenko reaches Paris Olympics Round of 16 in table tennis

Kazakhstan's table tennis star Kirill Gerassimenko celebrates after defeating German player Dang Qiu in a tense Round of 32 match at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The match ended 4:3, allowing Kazakhstan's Gerassimenko to advance to Round of 16 of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Previously, in Round of 64, he defeated Nicolas Burgos from Chile. The four-set match ended with the score 11:4, 11:5, 12:10, 11:6 in favor of the Kazakh player.

Kirill Gerassimenko was born December 18, 1996, in Astana. He is a participant of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, winner of the Seamaster World Tour Hungarian Open 2017 and ITTF Challenge Spanish Open in Granada.

The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is set to run from July 26 through August 11. The Games brought together 10,500 athletes from 206 national Olympic committees. Kazakhstan is represented by 80 athletes in 25 sports.
