Kazakhstan’s agrarian sector hit a record high for past 10 years

At today’s roundtable discussions in Astana Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yermek Kenzhekhanuly focused on the development of the country’s agro-industrial complex, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Those present debated the agrarian sector’s promising projects as part of the FAO Kazakhstan and Kazakh Agriculture Ministry Partnership Program.

He said 2024 became the record-breaking year for the country’s agriculture for the past 10 years. Its gross output rose by 13.7% to reach 8.3 trillion tenge, the highest index advance among the economic sectors of Kazakhstan. He added it is fueled by growth in plant and cattle breeding by 21.1% and 3.6% correspondingly.

The Vice Minister revealed Kazakhstan threshed 26.8 million tons of crops, including 18.5 million tons of wheat, gathered 2.6 million tons of potato, 3.8 million tons of vegetables, 3.3 million tons of oil-bearing crops and 302,00 tons of cotton plants. A record high 1.3 million tons of sugar beets were collected last year at 535.2 centners per hectare for the past 30 years.

He also highlighted livestock and poultry rose by 11% on average.
