Kazakhstani stuns WTA top-10 player in Dubai

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstani tennis player Zarina Diyas has reached the third round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with prize fund of $2.2 million, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.
In the second-round match the 21-year-old Diyas edged out world №10 Andrea Petkovic. She needed 1h 42min to route the German in two straight sets 7:5, 6:3. This is the second time Zarina elbows aside the WTA's top 10 player. Back in 2010, Diyas sensationally beat then world №7 Jelena Jankovic 6:1, 6:2 at WTA Moscow Highlights. In the third round Zarina will face world №9 Ekaterina Makarova of Russia who beat Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova in straight sets 6:3, 6:3.
