Kazakhstani experts took part in work of UN Subcommittee for outer space peaceful use

KAZINFORM /Sara Kabikyzy/ A delegation of Kazakhstan including the employees of the Kazakhstan Embassy in Austria and Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary JSC has participated in the 48th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the UN Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space held in Vienna.

The UN Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space consists of scientific-technical and judicial subcommittees. The last year the experts of Kazkosmos took part for the first time in the work of the judicial subcommittee and this year - in the work of the scientific-technical one.

At the sitting of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee First Vice President of Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary JSC Marat Nurguzhin made a report on the main directions of activity and projects of the Company.

As the meeting participants told, all 70 member countries of the COPUOS actively use the data of the Global Navigation Satellite System, land remote sensing system for developing their economies and improving their citizens' wellbeing.

In the opinion of M. Nurguzhin, Kazakhstani experts should be actively involved in work of the COPUOS. "In particular, we are interested in personnel training, application of satellite technologies for development of tele-medicine and tele-education in Kazakhstan", he said.

On June1-10, 2011 Vienna will host the 54th session of the COPUOS Committee which a delegation of Kazkosmos is going to attend.
