Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan seek to commission 4 more trade corridors

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are to commission an additional four trade corridors, seeking to boost mutual trade turnover, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

Such an initiative was announced by Uzbek ambassador to Kazakhstan Bakhtiyer Ibragimov during a meeting with entrepreneurs in Zhetysu region, Kazakhstan.

Ibragimov spoke about the measures Uzbekistan takes to promote economic ties between the countries.

He said, ‘Tashkent is carrying out major repairs at checkpoints on the state border’.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan opened their trade centers in both countries.

It’s worth noting that currently, there are over 1,000 enterprises with Kazakhstani capital in Uzbekistan.

Last year, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan traded goods worth 4.2 billion US dollars, with the latter’s exports standing at 1.4 billion US dollars and imports at 2.8 billion US dollars.

In addition, Kazakhstan exported 2 million tons of grain to Uzbekistan in the past five months.
