Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan freight traffic rises 42% in Jan.-July
"Between Jan. and July, the freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan amounted to 1.4 million metric tons, increasing by 42 percent compared to the same period of the last year," he said.
The ambassador said the growth in the freight traffic is due to the commissioning of the Kazakh-Turkmen section of the Uzen-Kyzylkaya-Bereket-Etrek railway in 2013.
He said over half the volume of the freight traffic between the two countries accounts for the Uzen-Bereket railway crossing, Kazinform refers to trend.az.
The total length of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway is 934.5 kilometers.
The longest part of it - 722.5 kilometers - runs through Turkmenistan.
Some 130 kilometers of the railway run through Kazakhstan, and 82 kilometers - through Iran.
