Kazakhstan took part in OSCE Security Days conference in Vienna

Officials from OSCE participating states and institutions discussed the role of the OSCE in the 21st century, security threats in the OSCE region, preventing and resolving conflicts, the involvement of academia, civil society and media in shaping a security community. Other relevant issues were also in focus at the OSCE Security Days conference.

Deputy Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies Lessya Karatayeva, who was a part of the Kazakh delegation at the conference, took the floor at the session dedicated to the security challenges stepping from the neighborhood. Ms Karatayeva also reminded the participants of the idea to set up the OSCE Security Institute earlier suggested by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the OSCE Summit in Astana on 1-2 December 2010.

The conference also brought together renowned experts, researchers, journalists and NGO activists from OSCE participating states.
