Kazakhstan to use Japanese experience in forecasting and recovery from earthquakes

As the leadership of the JICA informed, database of geographical informational systems was developed during the realization of the project. Analysis and reconnaissance valuation of earthquake ground motion, valuation of the sensitivity of life support systems of the city and other were held. The Group set about realization of the final stage of the project, aimed at the development of the earthquake management plan on the level of local communities (schools, enterprises and institutions), and on the holding of seminars and trainings on interaction and planning of natural catastrophes management. It is expected that the final report on the results of the project and plans of earthquake management of the city on the level of local communities, including the map of risks management will be handed over to the akimat of Almaty in June, 2009. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Group, Japan has great experience in the forecasting and recovery from the earth shocks that can be used in Almaty as well.
