Kazakhstan to transfer CICA chairmanship to Turkey in June

BAKU. March 13. KAZINFORM. /Arnur Mukhametkarim/ CICA Summit will be held in Istanbul on June 8, where the chairmanship in the organization will be handed over from Kazakhstan to Turkey. Kazakh Vice Foreign Minister Nurlan Yermekbayev made it public in Baku yesterday.

"The motto of the Turkey's presidency in the CICA is planned to sound like this - "Extended Dialogue in Asia - the Key to Cooperative Security in Asia". We hope that Turkey's activities will give additional impulse to the CICA", N. Yermekbayev said after the meeting of the organization's work group.

The Istanbul Summit will be aimed at adopting a political declaration and convention on the capacity and immunity of the CICA. Besides, it is planned to hold a meeting with the OSCE representatives.

"Over 17 years the CICA has proved to be an effective organization, where the number of participating states increased from 16 to 20, and continues to grow. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam and two more countries are expected to join the organization at the planned Istanbul Summit", the Vice Minister noted.
