Kazakhstan to take part in "Earth Hour" campaign

The "Earth Hour" campaign is an international event of the WWF. The campaign is held on last Saturday of March and calls on enterprises and commerce entities to turn off the electricity for an hour in order to promote interest to struggle against the climate change. The campaign will be held on March 27 at 20.30 pm local time this year.

To date over one thousand cities from 95 countries of the world promised to turn off the light. Astana and Almaty were the first official participants of the campaign from Kazakhstan, the rest cities of the country will join them.

Astana and Almaty Mayors Imangali Tasmagambetov and Akhmetzhan Yesimov gave orders to prepare switching off the lights of the main facilities of the cities. In Astana the lights of the city symbol Baiterek, the Presidential Residence, the Supreme Court, Palace of Independence, and others will be turned off.
