Kazakhstan to take over presidency in SCO: Foreign Ministry

ASTANA. June 7. KAZINFORM /Rassul Bakhamov/ "Upon the completion of the SCO Summit in Tashkent the presidency in the Organization will go to Kazakhstan for one year from June 2010 till June 2011", official representative of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Askar Abdrakhmanov has said today.

He said that the Kazakh President would take part in the 10th session of the Council of Heads of the SCO member states on June 10-11 in Tashkent.

A wide range of issues concerning the current situation in the world and region is planned to be discussed at the Summit. The heads of state will discuss the main results of the SCO activity during the past period, define dimensions of joint work on development of cooperation within the Organization.

Political Declaration and a range of resolutions of the SCO Council of Heads of State on approval of different documents of the Organization including Regulations on the Admission of New Members to the Organization are planned to be adopted at the Summit as well.

A.Abdrakhmanov also noted that the regular session of the SCO Council of Heads of State that is to be held in Astana in 2011 will be devoted to the 10th anniversary of the Organization.
