Kazakhstan to start five-year plan on industrial-innovative development from Jan 1, 2010

ASTANA. May 15. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ President Nursultan Nazarbayev criticized the Government's and other state bodies activities on diversification of economy. ?Diversification of economy has not become a priority for all state bodies and nationwide idea of our country yet?, the Head of the State said and named several reasons of this.
?First of all, we have not overcome expectations of foreign investment in processing industry. High prices for natural resources lowered attractiveness of non-primary sector for foreign investors. The Government has not succeeded in ensuring favorable business-climate, availability of key inputs for our entrepreneurs.We have not even created conditions for free economic zones as it is done in other countries. The third reason is poor organization of the state apparatus work, weak interaction of ministries and akimats with business, absence of a single state body responsible for economy diversification?, N. Nazarbayev said.
?The current crisis proves that there is no alternative for diversification of economy?, the President noted.
The Head of the State presented basic principles of Kazakhstan?s post-crisis development. ?From January 1, 2010 we will start a five-year plan of industrial-innovative development within the Kazakhstan Development Strategy 2010?, N. Nazarbayev concluded.
