Kazakhstan to spend USD 50 mln for teaching Afghan youth

ALMATY OBLAST. July 17. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Kazakhstan is ready to teach 1, 000 Afghan students at its universities free of charge. President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced it at today's OSCE Foreign Ministers informal meeting. For this aim Astana will allocate USD 50 mln soon. According to the Head of the State today Afghanistan needs highly-qualified staff for the development of the country.

"We think that training highly-qualified staff for various sectors of economy is what Afghanistan needs today most of all. Therefore Kazakhstan has set to implementation of an educational program for Afghan students in its universities. The cost of the project will make USD 50 mln. In accordance with it 1, 000 Afghan students are expected to obtain education in the Kazakh higher-educational institutions in 2010-2018", the President informed.

"Teaching Afghan youth we will make a great contribution to revival of Afghanistan as well as in reduction of spread the ideology of extremism and terrorism", the President stressed.
