Kazakhstan to spend KZT 30 bln for development of science next year

ASTANA. December 15. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakhstan needs KZT 30 bln for development of its science next year. Vice Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Aidar Zhakupov said it during the on-line conference on the portal 'BNews.kz'.

'Financing of science has increased by 30 percent over a few last years. In 2006 financing from budget made around KZT 14 bln, in 2009 the figures were KZT 17 bln and in 2010 around KZT 24 bln was invested into science. KZT 30 bln is envisaged for the next year for this purpose, A. Zhakupov added.

According to him the expenses for science made 0.24 percent of the country's GDP. 'Certainly, well developed countries are allocating much more for science. For instance, this figure in Russia is 1 percent, developed countries have these numbers in no less than 2 percent mark and Japan spends more than 3 percent of the GDP for science', he added noting that Kazakhstan was going to increase this number up to 1 percent.
