"Kazakhstan will ratify the Treaty establishing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in autumn 2014," Ambassador at large of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Assan Kozhakov told a Saturday press conference in Astana. "We will have a lot of work to do in the coming months. The 1000-page document has not been submitted to the parliament yet. I believe the process of ratification will start in September and take a couple of months," Mr. Kozhakov said. The EAEU Treaty was inked by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus in Astana on May 29. The Eurasian Economic Union is expected to become operative in January 1, 2015. Parliaments of the founding members are to ratify the treaty prior to that.
