Kazakhstan to prosecute Austrian company if it refuses to compensate for infected cattle

ASTANA. February 25. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan will have legal proceedings with the Austrian company in case it refuses to remunerate loses for supplying infected cattle to North Kazakhstan.

Today that has been announced at a press briefing in the Central communications office by Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov.

He assured that the loss and damage will be covered by the supplier, the Austrian company. "The laboratories repeatedly confirmed and at the OIE (Office International des Epizooties) that the animals were found to have diseases, and not only one. On that basis the cattle had been destroyed. The losses will be compensated. If this is not done voluntarily, it will be done in the courts, " said the Minister.

It should be recalled that in September 2012 "Leon" farm and "Poltava" LLP in North Kazakhstan region imported 722 heads of cattle from Austria. According to the veterinary requirements the imported cattle were taken to the quarantine.

During the quarantine the Republican Veterinary Laboratory and the National Reference Center for Veterinary Medicine discovered the agent of viral diarrhea and Shmalenberg disease.

Due to the made diagnosis according to the decree of the Government of Kazakhstan it was decided to destroy all livestock from Austria along with the yield.
