Kazakhstan to prevent any disasters in Caspian Sea - PM

ASTANA. October 5. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakhstan will prevent any disasters in the Caspian Sea. Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has said it today at the opening of the 5th 'KAZENERGY' Eurasian Forum in Astana.

'We should consider the consequences of the tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico and take all measures to prevent likewise accident in the Caspian Sea', K. Massimov noted.

According to him, Kazakhstan is aimed at ensuring environmental protection and works in accordance with the highest standards. K. Massimov noted that the Government of Kazakhstan developed a series of measures on reducing the risk from offshore drilling. 'The Ministries of Oil and Gas and Environmental Protection established a working group for ensuring security of offshore drilling and monitoring the situation', the Kazakh Premier added.

K. Massimov also noted that Kazakhstan intended to sign the intergovernmental protocol on security of maritime production with the Caspian Sea neighboring countries.
