Kazakhstan to open National Water Resources and Irrigation University

Vice Premier of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev held a meeting on restoring the irrigation and drainage construction institute in Zhambyl region at the ground of the Taraz Regional University, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Kazakh Government’s press service.

Science and Higher Education Minister Sayasat Nurbek, Vice Ministers of Water Resources and Irrigation, National Economy, Justice, and executives of the competition protection and development agency and Zhambyl region akimat took part in the meeting.

Those present reported on building the corresponding infrastructure of the new university, its financing, and staffing issues. The university will be granted the status of national and will major in water resources issues. Foreign scientists will join the university. The talks on partnership are underway with universities from Europe, China, Russia, and the U.S.

As stated there, the university will provide educational grants.

The Vice Premier tasked those attending to speed up necessary interdepartmental procedures since the university should open its doors this September.
