He said development of knowledge-intensive territories such as university towns may give an impetus to the development of science, technologies and innovations in the country.

Science should contribute to opening new high-tech export-oriented enterprises. It is necessary to raise the commercialization of scientific research results, help businesses localize production. Each institute or university should establish a partnership with a large enterprise to place targeted orders and co-finance expenses, the Prime Minister said.

He mentioned as an example the refined selenium production process developed by the Metallurgy and Enrichment Institute and KazakhMys Corporation.

The Prime Minister tasked the Science Ministry and concerned state bodies to develop the University Towns Development Concept given clustering of scientific institutions and innovative manufacturing facilities.

Besides, he assigned to launch the Digital Scientific Portal by the end of the year to integrate databases of all scientific projects, grants, research results and publications.
