Kazakhstan to build 3 new airports worth 117 bln tenge
Three small regional airports will be built in the resort areas of Katon Karagai, Zaisan and Kenderli in Kazakhstan in line with the President’s tasks, Kazakh Transport Vice Minister Talgat Lastayev told the Government today in Astana, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The airports will each feature runways up to 2,200×35 square meters. The cost of the projects hit 11.7.7 billion tenge.
He said the necessary preparations are underway.
The Vice Minister noted the flights will be operated on regional aircraft such as ATR-72, Q-400 Bombardier with a capacity up to 74 seats. Three planes will be acquired through the Industrial Development Fund mechanism.
The key goal is to launch direct flights to these airports from Almaty, Astana and large cities of Kazakhstan to boost regional tourism.
