Kazakhstan to begin destruction of hazardous waste this year - Minister of Environment and Water Resources
He informed that JSC "Zhasyl Damu", which was set up to control and destroy unclaimed hazardous waste, will begin the destruction of hazardous wastes this year. Works will begin in Kostanay, Karaganda and Aktobe regions.
According to Kapparov, it is planned to create a system for collection, recycling and reducing waste in Kazakhstan. For this purpose there was developed the program of modernization of solid waste management for 2013-2050. Minister touched upon another environmental issue of high importance. This year it is planned to start cleaning work of Borovoe resort's lakes. "Design-budget documentation of the project on cleaning and sanitation of Shchuchinsk-Borovskoy resort area water reservoirs, including Lake Schuchje, Burabay and Karasu, is in the process of completion. In 2014 we plan to start recovery works'', said N.Kapparov.
According to his words, the environmental project on cleaning the Nura River in the Karaganda region has been successfully completed.
"In addition there has been finished a unique project on cleaning the area of the Ilek River from hexavalent chromium", said the Minister.
