The Kazakh President noted that the maiden visit of the Congolese leader to Kazakhstan occurred concurrently with the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“This is a milestone. Over the past 25 years, we have established cooperation based on mutual trust and friendship. It is our intention to reinforce this partnership in the future. The talks held today will propel Kazakh-Congolese relations to a brand-new level and help facilitate effective partnership. We consider the Republic of the Congo as a crucial partner on the African continent. The two countries are geographically distant from one another. Nevertheless, we are interested in the comprehensive development of our ties," the Head of State said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes there is significant potential for cooperation between two countries. Specifically, Kazakhstan and the Republic of the Congo can step up cooperation in the following areas: trade and economics, agriculture, logistics, mining, production and investment, new technologies, and space exploration.

“We need to intensify interaction between Kazakhstan and the Republic of the Congo. The documents to be signed today will give new impetus to our relations. In evidence, we will appoint an ambassador to the Republic of the Congo. The ambassador will serve as a political mediator between the two countries," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated.

It bears to remind that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev greeted Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso in the Akorda Palace on Friday. The Congolese leader is paying the official visit to Kazakhstan from August 2 to 3 at the invitation of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
