Kazakhstan to allocate KZT10tln for energy and utilities infrastructure renovation
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, during which the Kazakh President briefed about the preparation of the National project to modernize the energy and utilities infrastructure, Akorda reports.

The five-year project provides for renovation of the existing infrastructure in energy and utilities sectors as well as construction and modernization of over 6,000 MW of generation capacity.
The total amount of the project exceeds 10 trillion tenge, set to be obtained through borrowed funds from the market and partially from the republican budget.
The project seeks to significantly reduce the rate of deterioration at energy facilities and in the utilities sector, contributing to the life support systems reliability.
Besides, the President was informed about the new approaches to the implementation of a regional policy, aimed at eliminating the existing gaps between regions in terms of social, production and utilities infrastructure provision.
As Bozumbayev said, a Regional Policy Project Office under the government is to be established for system-wide coordination of the implementation of the state programs.
President Tokayev was also briefed about prospects for implementing the investment project aimed at developing the aviation hub in Mangistau region as a new point of growth of its economy and an important link in the international transport and logistics chain.
In conclusion, Tokayev instructed Deputy Prime Minister Bozumbayev to carefully develop and approve the National project before the yearend as well as start working on the implementation of the concept of regional policy.
