Kazakhstan Temir Zholy to increase passenger and cargo traffic by 15% in 2014

ASTANA. January 22. KAZINFORM - In 2014 JSC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" plans to increase passenger and cargo traffic by 15% in comparison with 2013, head of national company Askar Mamin stated at a board meeting attended by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

According to him, it is planned that in 2014 the company's revenues will amount to 962 billion tenge, net profit will be at least 122 billion tenge, the web-site of the Prime Minister informs. In addition, he noted that the implementation of a set of measures for the development of transport and logistics system would result in the increase of transit transportations twofold from 18 to 36 million tons by 2020. 28 thousand new jobs will be created.

"According to estimates of the Institute of Economic Research, the average effect from the activity of the transport and logistics complex will add 1% to GDP growth," Mamin stressed.

In addition, it is planned to carry out major transport and communication projects. In particular, before the end of the year it is planned to put into operation the railways "Zhezkazagan - Beineu" and "Arkalyk - Shubarkol", plant producing diesel engine in Astana, begin the project on the development of the railway junction "Astana" including the construction of the railway station, which will be finished prior to EXPO 2017.

It is also planned to complete works on the expansion of the Aktau Seaport, begin the construction of transport and logistics centers in Astana, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Atyrau, and start the project on the development of the airport in Astana.
