Kazakhstan sweeps 5 gold medals at Asian Schools Swimming Championships

Kazakhstan secured five gold medals at the Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) Swimming Championships Bangkok 2025 held in Thailand, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Astana city mayor’s office.

The AOSI brought together 1,500 athletes from 18 countries.

Khanzada Nurlybekova took second place in overall standings securing 259 points. She was awarded the Best Sportsman Cup.

On Day 1 Khanzada Nurlybekova finished first in the girls’ 100m backstroke, while Arsen Amantai was second in the boys’ 200m butterfly. To note, Luisa Ogaz earned bronze in the girls’ 50 m breaststroke.

On Day 2 Khanzada triumphed in the girls’ 50m backstroke, finished second in the girls’ 100m butterfly and took home bronze in the girls’ 200m freestyle. Luisa Ogaz clinched silver in the girls’ 200m breaststroke, while Arsen Amantai bagged bronze in the boys’ 100 m butterfly.

Besides, Mendikhan Shakhmina, Luisa Ogaz and Arsen Amantai finished third in the mixed freestyle 4×50m relay.

Noteworthy, on Day 3 Khanazda swept the podium winning the girls’ 50 m butterfly and 50m freestyle. She also grabbed silver in the girls’ 200 backstroke.

It is worth reminding the ninth-grade Astana schoolboy secured win at the Copernicus Olympiad.
