Kazakhstan, Singapore coop in VTE development successful
As earlier reported, 140 VTE employees of Kazakhstan undertake training in Singapore within the memorandum on cooperation signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan and Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore) with the support of Temasek Foundation.
Speaking of the experience of Singapore, the Chairman of the funds said that all technical and vocational training centers of Singapore were in practice for the last 25-30 years since gaining independence. "We need to train our younger people so that they could have jobs," he explained.
Speaking of the experience of Kazakhstan and Singapore in developing vocational and technical education, Goh Geok Khim said that the two countries had learned a lot from their past.
"In our early days of independence we learned a lot from other people who gave us the knowledge of how to do. But now we have to develop our own systems," the Chairman of the Foundation said.
Goh Geok Khim has also noted that Kazakhstan's program on vocational and technical education development is very timely as long as the country is currently in the process of development of new oil and gas fields. "Obviously, as every country, you need technical expertise," he said.
The joint training program is expected to be complete by September 2012. The program is expected to result in contribution of the program participants to establishment of new colleges within implementation of the strategy of "Kasiprok" Holding.
