Kazakhstan sets ambitious goals for 2014 Incheon Asian Games in South Korea

Deputy chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Sports and Physical Culture Affairs Yelsiyar Kanagatov revealed the ambitious plans at the meeting of the agency staff on Friday. "Our goal is to win at least 26 gold medals in 15 sports and clinch the 4th berth in the overall medal tally," he said. According to him, the agency sets high hopes on track-and-field athletics, weightlifting, and canoeing teams. "Nearly 400 athletes will represent Kazakhstan in 39 types of sports," he added. The 2014 Incheon Asian Games set to take place on September 19 - October 4 will bring together 13,000 athletes from 45 countries who will compete for 439 sets of medals.
