Kazakhstan set to vie for top honors at 17 Olympic-licensed competitions in Feb

This February Kazakhstan's team is set to compete in 18 sports at 17 Olympic-licensed competitions, Kazinform News Agency cites sports development directorate.

Athletes will compete for rank points in judo, fencing, artistic gymnastics, weightlifting, and trampoline gymnastics to win Olympic qualification spots. Boxing, field and track, and water sports tournaments will give a chance to secure a berth at the Olympic Games.

Kazakhstan has won 19 Olympic licenses in 8 sports so far, including 4 in archery, 3 in road cycling, 2 in modern pentathlon, 2 in boxing, 1 in Greco-Roman wrestling, 1 in freestyle wrestling, and another one in artistic gymnastics. 69 qualifiers are left until the start of the Olympic Games, namely, 5 world championships, 7 Asian championships, and 57 rating tournaments.

The XXXIII Olympic Summer Games will be held in Paris between 26 July and 11 August. It will bring together over 10,000 sportsmen from 205 countries.
