According to him, the experience that Kazakhstan gained as OSCE Chair is used for the chairmanship of the OIC.

The scientist said that Kazakhstan has become a member of the OIC in 1995. The organization unites 57 countries on four continents and is the second largest after the United Nations in its scope and potential; it has a huge human and economic potential. "This year Kazakhstan chairs the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The decision that Kazakhstan should chair the OIC in 2011 was made due to socio-economic and socio-political parameters of Kazakhstan. Back in 2003 our country proposed the initiative to create centers for monitoring and nonproliferation of nuclear weapons. This is a very significant proposal, since the problem is serious, it divides the organization itself, creating a conflict between its members," Jalilov stressed.
