Kazakhstan sees surge in direct investments into IT industry
In the 2009-2012 timeframe, the volume of direct investments into the industry amounted to $2.9 billion, whereas this rate made only $0.3 billion between 1993-2008.
Within the New Industrialization State Program, in 2012-2013 KAZNEX INVEST made several business trips to the U.S. and the Silicon Valley, home to many of the world's largest IT corporations in Northern California. There a number of meetings with reps of the top-ranking IT companies were held. As a result, Apple Inc. opened its training center at the International Information Technology University in Almaty last year, where students are offered various courses and engaged in the development of software and mobile apps.
The Hewlett-Packard Company together with JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" is working on an IT service center on the basis of the Alatau IT Park special economic zone.
Internationally-reputed TransCosmos Inc. is developing a call-center in Kazakhstan in association with JSC "Kazakhtelecom".
