Kazakhstan sees inflation fall below 10% for first time since February 2022

Kazakhstan’s index of prices for goods and services stood at 9.8% in December, down 0.5% than in November. The figure had been on decline since March throughout the past year, Kazinform News Agency cites the Telegram channel DATA HUB.

According to the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan, prices for paid services rose by a whopping 12.4%. Utility rates also increased considerably, including waste collection by 33.2%, sewerage 28.8%, and central heating 26.1%.

Non-food inflation was at 9.1%, with prices for diesel fuel rising 15.2%, petroleum 13.7%, and liquified gas in cylinders 13.6%.

The annual inflation for food products stood at 8.5%, with the price for rice up 34.3%, and that for buckwheat down 22.6%, and sunflower oil down 18%.

The inflation in December was estimated at 0.8%, slowing from November’s figure. Prices for food rose 0.9%, for paid services 0.8%, and non-food products 0.5%.
