Kazakhstan seeks to become consistent supporter and active conductor of UN goals - FM

ASTANA. March 13. KAZINFORM 20 years since Kazakhstan's accession to the United Nations were filled with fruitful cooperation reflecting the desire of our country to become a responsible and consistent supporter and an active conductor of the purposes of the Organization, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov stated during the meeting with Miroslav Jenca, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia.
Kazykhanov noted that the Kazakhstan's initiatives put forward in the UN, including the establishment of the CICA, development of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia, declaring of the day against nuclear tests have been adequately assessed and implemented in the world.
The minister stressed that a good basis for further cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN is the implementation of the plans on making Almaty a sub-regional hub of multilateral diplomacy. Giving Almaty a status of a regional center of the United Nations would not only contribute to the fulfillment of regional projects, but also give impetus to the assistance in developing the countries in the region.
