Kazakhstan secures bronze at table tennis tournament in Türkiye
Representatives of the Kazakh table tennis team, Alan Kurmagaliyev and Zauresh Akasheva, achieved a top-three finish at the WTT Feeder Istanbul 2026 in Türkiye, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Kazakh National Olympic Committee.
They earned third place in the mixed doubles final.
During the tournament, the duo triumphed over Hakan Isik and Ozge Yilmaz from Türkiye with a score of 3-2, defeated Canada’s Edward Ly and Mo Zhang 3-0, and overcame Greece’s Anastasios Riniotis and Elisavet Terpou with a score of 3-1.
However, in the final match, Kurmagaliyev and Akasheva lost to South Korea’s Choi Jiwook and Kim Eunseo, ultimately securing the bronze medal.
Previously, it was reported that Kazakhstan’s men’s table tennis team made history by advancing to the quarterfinals of the World Team Table Tennis Championships in London, marking the country's first-ever quarterfinal appearance.
