"Currently, 9.4 million people or 55% of the country's population reside in the cities. It is expected that in next 20 years the level of urbanization will grow by 10%," Mr. Orynbayev explained.

He also stressed that the level of urbanization across Kazakhstan is uneven. "For instance, Astana and Almaty cities and South Kazakhstan and Almaty region attract more residents than other areas or provinces of the country," he said.
