Kazakhstan’s Supreme Court Chairman Musabek Alimbekov visited France within working trip

ASTANA. July 8. KAZINFORM Supreme Court Chairman Musabek Alimbekov with a delegation from Kazakhstan visited France to hold a number of bilateral meetings, the press-office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

France's ambassador for international adoption Jean-Paul Moncheaux briefed the members of Kazakh delegation about the details of international adoption in Kazakhstan.

The sides also touched upon the issue regarding the application of the Hague Convention on Protection of Children. France has been a member of this Organization for 12 years. To date the document has been signed by 82 countries including Kazakhstan.

During the meeting with Justice Minister Michel Alliot-Marie the parties pointed out successful partnership relations that the countries have had for years and emphasized that this visit would help strengthen them. The sides expressed confidence in further successful cooperation and exchange of staff in law sphere. French Minister emphasized that President of France Nicolas Sarkozy paid special attention to the French-Kazakh cooperation in the legal field to create a legal system for protecting economic interests of both countries and creating trustful climate between them. 'Therefore the visit of M. Alimbekov is of great importance', the Minister noted.

In turn, Kazakh Supreme Court Chairman informed French side of development of judicial system in Kazakhstan that was targeted on European standard of judicial system, order of judicial staff training programs and about successful cooperation with the French academy of justice that trains 20 specialists from Kazakhstan every year.

During the negotiations the sides paid special attention to the EU project 'Support to judicial and legal reform in the Republic of Kazakhstan' launched in February and which is expected to be in force for four years. The EU allocated EURO 3.4 mln for the realization of the project.

M. Alimbekov met with French State Councilor Thierry Olson within his visit and his interlocutor told about the work of the Constitutional Council and about specifics of the Institute for Administrative Justice work. Supreme Court Chairman informed the councilor about judicial system of Kazakhstan and the reforms conducted. The sides expressed mutual willingness to continue French-Kazakh dialogue in order to strengthen trustful, bilateral relations.
