Kazakhstan's population is 17 million 125 thousand, as of 1 November 2013

Urban population accounts for 9 million 422 thousand or 55 percent, rural population - for 7 million 703 thousand or 45 percent. Since the beginning of the current year, the population has increased by 215.2 thousand people or 1.3 percent.

Natural increase of the population in January-October made 215.9 thousand, whereas in January-October of the previous year the figure was 203.9 thousand people. The overall rate of natural increase per 1 000 people was 15.2.

In January- October 2013, 331.7 thousand births were registered, which is 2.4 percent more year-on-year. The total fertility rate over the said time period was 23.37 births per 1 000 people.

The number of deaths in the period under review amounted to 115.8 thousand people, which is 3.4 percent less than in January-October 2012. The overall mortality rate per 1 000 people was 8.16.
