Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship bears additional economic and political burden: Kazak Sec of State

"The Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Organization has particular added value for our region as well. First of all these are the issues connected with strengthening the fight against terrorism and extremism emanating from Afghanistan", the Kazakh Secretary of State said.

In this context Kazakhstan as the OSCE chairman intends to hold special conference on struggle against terrorism. The main purpose of the conference will be discussion of the situation in and around of Afghanistan.

The OSCE Chairman-in-Office noted that the second dimension is the economic component, in particular, the problem of the Aral Sea.

He said that Kazakhstan plans to hold a donor conference on the issue of particular economic contribution of the OSCE member states to rehabilitation of the Aral region.
